every mother always wants to know what her child doing everyday, what happens to the child at his live every day that passes, and any mom always ask what will he do in the future? any mom really loves her child but did you know? Video Games are Good for Children and why?
Children love video games and did you know that it has been proved that there are good video games for children. In this ongoing debate on between video games developing one’s capability versus the effect they have on a child’s behavior, many pros and cons have emerged.
It is amazing how children are intrigued by technology and how they find their way around gadgets. In the times of video phoning, children are teaching their parents just how to send a text message!
Gone are those days when the children looked forward to going to the playground and take turns on the merry-go-round. Hi-tech video games have replaced outdoor games and even board games. Children want graphics, sounds, interactive technology and the thrilling challenges that these games offer.
So parents should now replace the lazy board games with Xbox and Nintendo games!
Professionals argue that there are good video games for children and they teach the children to use their motor and sensory skills. Along with this their hand-eye coordination is developed. Handling the controls teach the child the sense of space and speed and movements through multi-tasking in a game.
Only when the children have understood the instructions can they play a game to begin with. Through varying levels of difficulty, good video games for children help the child learn management of resources, logistics and instructions.
With time and repeated trials, children learn to be determined and pursue the ultimate goal and overcome challenges that come in the way of that goal. They are able to, therefore, use this perseverance in real life activities be it sports or academics.
While trying to go on to the next level, children use reasoning and apply hypothetical thinking. Studies have shown that similar to a science or a mathematical problem, children make several attempts at solving a challenge. If one does not work, they think of another way to go around it. Parents should watch over the children when they face a challenge in case they need help.
In games where more than one player is required, children learn some sense of teamwork. By effective coordination and planning, they are able to work with another person and emulate that in school and other social situations.
When a child is able to crack a level, he gains confidence as that is something he did on his own without an adult’s help. He gets to talk rather ‘brag’ about his victory to his friends and develops motivation to get better.
Subconsciously he begins using that motivation in school as well. All the above reasons corroborate the fact that good video games for children help in their overall development and progress.
